David Greenberger captured imaginations far beyond the Duplex Nursing Home when he began publishing this zine in 1979. The long-running Duplex Planet would prove to be the first volley in his mission to portray elderly people as living, dynamic individuals rather than a static collection of memories. A number of the residents developed their own fan bases as a result of exposure in the Duplex Planet-fans that included luminaries including Studs Terkel, Allen Ginsberg and Matt Groening.
